The whole point of putting pen to paper—whether you’re writing a sentence or laying in a sketch—is to take an idea or story out of your head and capture it where other people can see it and respond to it. Art is at its best when it inspires a reaction, and invites the viewer not to just look at a pretty picture, but to step for a moment into a new world, filled with new characters to meet and adventures to start.
And there’s nothing like being the one who gets to bring those stories and characters to life, or like getting to coordinate with others to make their own visions a reality. It’s why I’ve been working as a freelance digital illustrator and concept artist for over six years, and why I’m not likely to stop anytime soon.
